Hapoel Tel Aviv fell to Bayern Munich 79-64 as the reds had no answer for the German squad who did as they pleased for the majority of the game to chalk up the victory. Vasilije Micic had the hot hand early on for Hapoel Tel Aviv while Dan Oturu also scored but Isaiah Mike, Andreas Obst and Vladimir Lucic helped Bayern Munich take a 43-39 lead at halftime. Neno Dimitrijevic scored with ease to open up the second half while Mike added points as well to top off a 23-2 run, while Justinian Jessup scored with ease over the course of the final frame to close out the win.

Micic scored 13 points and Oturu added 10 points in the loss while Mike scored 16 points and Obst put in 13 points in the win.

Hapoel Tel Aviv Head Coach Dimitrios Itoudis talked about the defeat, “The outcome was very bad for us, we were leading the game 39-32 and we were playing how we wanted and we have not played well lately and I’ve been called to create a team to win but we are going through a bad period. There is no division in the team and these are the things we are addressing.”

Bayern Munich Head Coach Svetislav Pesic spoke about the victory, “Good win for us, we played defense and they found some solutions on their offense with the best perimeter player in Europe but we were able to limit them. Our confidence on defense then really helped our offense. My first game was against Hapoel in Munich and I know the philosophy of the club so when I was asked to help, I of course did.”

Tomer Ginat spoke about the defeat, “Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get back into the game and win it. The loss isn’t easy, it’s not simple for us, but we have a very important game in two days. We’ll prepare properly and come on Saturday as strong as possible.”

Vasilije Micic drained a pair from deep, Colin Malcolm also dialled up from long distance and Dan Oturu scored on the inside for Hapoel Tel Aviv to begin the game as Wenyen Gabriel scored in the paint at the other end while Isiaha Mike and Justus Hollatz both went from downtown for Bayern Munich, but points from Johnathan Motley gave the reds a 26-23 lead after ten minutes of play.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes, Niels Giffey and Johannes Voightmann all scored to get the second quarter underway, Antonio Blakeney put in a deuce and then a 4-point play, which was followed up by a pair of Tai Odiase buckets, Gabriel and Hollatz responded while Andreas Obst hit a pair from deep and added a deuce to send Svetislav Pesic’s squad into halftime up 43-39.

Micic opened up the third quarter with points, Mike came back with a pair of baskets, Vladimir Lucic scored as well, Neno Dimitrijevic went from deep, Justinian Jessup scored in the paint, Chris Jones and Tomer Ginat tried to stop the bleeding following a 23-2 run by the visitors, but Dimitrijevic scored to keep Bayern ahead by double digits 61-50 after thirty minutes of action.

Voightmann and Motley traded baskets to begin the fourth quarter, Jessup scored a trio of baskets, Lucic and Mike both scored, Obst added points as did Dimitrijevic to close out the game.
