After the outbreak of the war with Iran, there are many Israeli athletes and teams who are currently abroad that are unable to return to Israel. In order for them to be able to maintain a regular routine and schedule while abroad, the Israel Olympic Committee approached several European Olympic Committees with a request to host Israeli teams during this time.
Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Portugal all approved the request so that the associations that have athletes who are in or near these countries and need housing and/or access to training facilities until it is possible to return to Israel, will be able to be hosted at the training centers in the relevant countries.
Together with the connections of the various sports associations with their counterparts and various clubs throughout Europe, this will allow Israeli athletes to get through this difficult period as they cannot return home to Israel.
The athletes, coaches and professional teams are all being monitored and are working together with all of their partners in Israeli sports to ensure that dealing with the complex situation and the many challenges created by the war with Iran will allow for continued activity as much as possible, with the safety of the athletes being of the utmost importance.
Credit must be given to the Ministry of Culture and Sports and MK Miki Zohar, the Wingate Institute, which is working tirelessly to ensure that athletes can train within the framework of the restrictions and all the heads of the associations who are working day and night to ensure the continued activity of the national teams in Israel and around the world.
