Hapoel Tel Aviv held a press conference ahead of the resumption of the 2019/20 season. Team Captain Tomer Ginat who just signed with Metropolitans 92 in France for the next season, Coach Ioannis Kastritis and chairman Rami Cohen who began the proceedings all looked ahead to June 21st.

“We are returning to the court a bit differently but it’s very important that we bring basketball back. We have been able to put together a team that has been able to jell together fairly quickly and as of right now it’s been pretty easy to get going.”

Cohen also referenced Jordan Hamilton having been caught by the league breaking quarantine, “Jordan made a mistake and went to a store, we’re moving forward from that.”

With Tomer Ginat heading to France and Boris Diaw’s team, Cohen spoke about his captain and the challenge that awaits him, “I want to wish Tomer the best of luck. Our relationship with him is terrific. We knew that if Tomer stayed in Israel that he would only play at Hapoel but we also knew that he wanted to play aboard as well and we are very happy for him.”

Coach Kastritis also discussed Ginat’s move, “We are very proud of Tomer, but right now he is investing all of his energy here with the team.”

The bench boss also talked about his club’s preparation thus far, “We just completed 10 days of training. We still have another week or so to get the players ready the best way we can as we restart the league. We’re here because we love what we do.”

Finally, Ginat himself spoke about his new situation, “I am very happy and very excited. I don’t think now is the right time to talk about the move as I have another month and half here at Hapoel Tel Aviv and that is the only thing I am concentrating on. I’m excited that the league is returning and I can’t wait for the first game. We will do all that we can to keep in proper shape and as healthy as possible.”
