Hapoel Tel Aviv took part in the EuroCup draw for the 2023\/24 season as the Reds will meet up with old foes and friends along with plenty of Israeli context in the 10 team Group A. Earlier in the day ahead of the draw, the Reds inked guard Xavier Munford to a 2-year extension with the club to the delight of the fans.<\/p>\n

In each group, all opponents will play in a round-robin, home-and-away format for a total of 18 games stretching from October 3, 2023, to February 7, 2024.<\/p>\n

In what is a new-look postseason, the top two teams in each regular season group will skip to the quarterfinals while the second- through sixth-place teams play do-or-die single games in the eighthfinals against opponents from opposite groups. The eighthfinals winners will visit the top four teams from the regular season in one-game quarterfinal showdowns. The ensuing semifinal and final phases have been expanded to best-of-three series. All post-season pairings will give home-court advantage to the teams that finished higher in their regular season groups.

\nHapoel Tel Aviv\u2019s Group A will feature the following teams:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Badalona:<\/strong> The Spanish ACB squad eliminated the Reds in the quarterfinals last season.<\/p>\n

Ljubljana:<\/strong> New head coach Simone Pianigiani is back on the bench this season after a number of years doing consulting work. The Italian coach took Hapoel Jerusalem to the semifinals back in 2017.<\/p>\n

Paris:<\/strong> Played Hapoel last season but will have a new look under head coach Tuomas Iisalo who moves to France after taking Bonn to the Basketball Champions League title just this past May.<\/p>\n

Venezia:<\/strong> Neven Spahija is still the Venice bench boss as Hapoel played the Italian team in the playoffs last season.<\/p>\n

Vilnius Wolves:<\/strong> Began play just last season and will already move into the EuroCup after featuring in the European North Basketball League this past year where they were runner-ups.<\/p>\n

Besiktas:<\/strong> The Turkish club returns to the EuroCup for the first time since the 2015\/16 season after having played in the BCL for over half a decade. <\/p>\n

Hamburg:<\/strong> Played in the same group as Hapoel Tel Aviv last season.<\/p>\n

Prometey:<\/strong> The Ukrainian club who will play in Riga, Latvia, continues in the competition for the second straight season under Israeli head coach Ronen \u201cNeno\u201d Ginzburg and also feature former Hapoel Beer Sheva guard Caleb Agada. <\/p>\n

London:<\/strong> Hapoel will play the London Lions for the second straight season after a solid debut year under head coach Ryan Schmidt and are led by star Sam Dekker. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
