LISTEN: Sharon Drucker joins The Sports Rabbi to talk career<\/a><\/p>\nThe 54-year old has been coaching professionally since 1999 and won the ULEB Cup back in 2004 with Hapoel Jerusalem. In addition to working in Israel with the youth national teams, Drucker has also coached in Russia, Greece, Belgium and Lithuania but this will be the first time that he will be the bench boss of a women\u2019s team.<\/p>\n
Israel will be a co-host of the Eurobasket in 2023 with Slovenia as Drucker will look to get his squad into prime shape to compete for continental glory.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m happy to be here and I want to thank all those involved for making his happen. This I\u2019ll be the first time that I will be a national team coach in the women\u2019s division. I debated with myself if I should take on this challenge and I believe that we are at an important stage in women\u2019s basketball. Since taking on this role I\u2019ve met with a number of people as well as some of the players to understand what issues there are as well as all of the positives. This was also an opportunity to present my plan of action to the association.
