Yam Madar is making headlines both at home in Israel as well as outside the borders of the Holy Land. With the NBA Summer League approaching, Madar who was selected by the Boston Celtics in the 2020 NBA Draft is making waves in the United States as well as around the world as he readies to show his wares in front of the Boston brass and fans. <\/p>\n

In order to get a taste of the excitement surrounding Madar, a number of Celtics fan sites weighed in about the Israeli guard.<\/p>\n

Cameron Tabatabaie<\/a><\/strong> of the Celtics Lab Podcast<\/a><\/strong> as well as the Celtics Hub<\/a><\/strong> and Off The Glass<\/a><\/strong> spoke about what he believes Madar will be able to offer the club:
\n\u201cI think Yam has skills to make an impact in the NBA. But perhaps most importantly, I think he\u2019s got the toughness. I\u2019d be very curious to see what he would look like with the Celtics or their G-League affiliate in Maine. Boston has a number of young guys on the bench who will need minutes. It might be another year before Yam heads stateside, although a trade could blow things wide open.\u201d

\nDr. Justin Quinn<\/a><\/strong> who is the managing editor of The Celtics Wire<\/a><\/strong> and also part of the Celtics Lab Podcast<\/a><\/strong> chimed in on Madar and how the guard may be able to impact the team:
\n\u201cIt’s always hard to project how a prospect will do when making the jump to the NBA from other leagues, but it’s hard to look at Madar’s season in the Israeli Premier Basketball League and not be impressed. His shooting was a real concern, but he’s put that to bed and even turned it into a potential point of strength, shows good court vision and a high motor with the swagger he’ll need to succeed in the NBA.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the team is constructed now, I’m not certain Boston would bring him over, as they’d have one or even two third guard options they hold the rights to or have under contract competing for very few minutes. But, I also don’t expect both of those guards (Tremont Waters and Carsen Edwards) to be with the team by the start of the season, and very possibly neither will. The Celtics could arguably need more playmaking than they have even with them, and Madar might be their best option there of the three given his size and potential ceiling. So long as the game speed doesn’t overwhelm him, I think a solid backup is not an unreasonable outcome for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoston fans seem to like him a lot, and have measured if optimistic expectations for him. I am not 100% sure the timing is right for him to come over on the Celtics end roster-wise, but I think it is a very real possibility, depending on how things break consolidating talent.\u201d

\nFinally, Tomek Kordylewski<\/a><\/strong> from Poland who runs Boston Celtics PL<\/a><\/strong> in his home country gave his thoughts on Madar and what his future in Green could look like:
\n\u201cI watched pretty much every minute of Yam Madar in Israeli league last season, and I believe he has NBA-level type of talent. He’s nifty with the ball, has a great feel and touch around the rim, and showcased much improved 3-point shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese will be the keys to his success in the NBA, but the most important thing is that he should be able to handle his minutes thanks to advanced defense. He seems ready to play in the U.S. next season, and the Celtics will for sure love how hard he plays on the defensive end, especially given new coach Ime Udoka’s focus on bringing the dogs out of young players on Boston roster.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of Celtics fans think high of him with some even comparing Yam to Tony Parker already. I can’t wait to see how he does in the NBA. As long as he continues to play with an edge, Madar can be nice rotational piece for Boston, at least.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
