The Reds took a 1-0 lead early on in the 2nd half but 3 unanswered goals by Maccabi took the deserved 3-points from the rebuilt Hapoel side. Eyad Abu Ayaid scored for the hosts as Nosa Igiebor, Eran Zahavi and Tal Ben Chaim struck back for the Yellow-and-Blue within 14 minutes of play. Maccabi controlled the ball and tempo of the match throughout the 90 minutes as they prepared in earnest for their UEFA Champions League return leg against Viktora Plzen on Wednesday night in the Czech Republic.

Maccabi Haifa 2-1 Hapoel Haifa

The Greens under new/old coach Roni Levy got of to a bright start with a home victory over their Haifa rivals. Alon Turgeman and Eyal Meshumar scored for Maccabi as Tomer Suissa scored for Hapoel.

Hapoel Akko 0-1 Kiryat Shemona

Akko played with a youth lineup and Kiryat Shemona fielded their 2nd side as the visitors scored a 7th minute goal by Tomer Suissa and prepared for their UEFA Europa League showdown against Slovan Liberac of the Czech Republic on Thursday night.

Hapoel Beer Sheva 2-0 Hapoel Kfar Saba

Beer Sheva will be playing their home matches at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem until their brand new state of the art stadium will be opened next month, but it didn’t matter as they still were able to defeat the recently promoted Kfar Saba side. Mahran Radi and Ovidiu Huban were the goal scorers giving the club and its supporters a pleasant ride back home following the match.

Maccabi Petach Tikva 3-0 Bnei Yehuda

Petach Tikva won their first match of the season in dominant fashion as newly acquired Muhamed Calibat, Jo Mununga and Omer Danino all scored for the home side over newly promoted Bnei Yehuda.
