Maccabi Tel Aviv thrashed Hapoel Holon 99-66 at Yad Eliyahu as the yellow-and-blue got back on the winning track after falling to Gilboa/Galil last week. John Dibartolomeo led the Maccabi scorers with 20 points, Scottie Wilbekin dropped 17 points in the win while the team scored 52 points in the paint. Amit Simhon led Holon with 17 points.

Bnei Herzliya shocked Hapoel Tel Aviv at the Drive-In Arena 77-76 as Or Leumi scored a last second shot when he drove into the lane and put up the winner. Leumi broke into uncontrollable tears after returning to play after a year on the sidelines with mononucleosis. Jeff Adrien and Karam Mashour each scored 16 points while Michael Dixon (11 points/15 assists) and Hilton Armstrong (12 points/10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles in the win. Tomer Ginat led the Reds with 16 points as Alade Aminu added 15 points in the defeat.

Hapoel Eilat picked up their third win in a row as they defeated Nes Ziona 105-85 down south in the Red Sea City. Elijah Bryant dropped 25 points going 11/14 from the field and added 7 rebounds while Suleiman Braimoh scored 18 points and JP Tokoto drained 16 points, grabbed 10 boards and stole 5 balls in the victory. Daequan Cook led all scorers with 27 points and Golan Gutt chipped in with 17 for Nes Ziona in the loss.

Hapoel Gilboa/Galil remained in first place after dropping Nahariya 85-81 in a game that saw Mickey Gorka’s team tied a league record for futility. Last week, Nahariya went 0/26 from three in a blowout loss to Jerusalem while against Gilboa/Galil they committed 29 turnovers which tied another league mark together with Bnei Herzliya and Ironi Ramat Gan, however, came close to upsetting Ariel Beit Halachmi’s squad. James Kelly led Gilboa/Galil’s five scorers in double figures with 18 points as 8 rebounds, Ian Miller went a perfect 5/5 from beyond the arc for 17 points while Bryant Crawford dropped 11 points a dished out 6 assists in the victory. Myke Henry scored 29 points for Nahariya but committed 7 turnovers in the defeat.

Hapoel Jerusalem headed to Ashdod for a Gameday 6 clash, but the game never made it to tip-off. The rim on the basket that Jerusalem was practicing on before the game broke and couldn’t be fixed as arena workers tried in vain to fix them for over an hour to no avail. The only replacement baskets available were ones that extended from the roof of the building and were deemed unsafe by the two teams while league rules also dictate that the baskets must be grounded to the floor. Although Jerusalem could have demanded a technical victory, sportsmanship came out on top as the game was postponed and will be played at a date to be determined. Jerusalem veteran James Feldeine spoke to The Sports Rabbi about the incident, “I’ve never seen this in my life. In my nine year career I’ve never seen this. It’s 2018 and we can’t play like this. They should have noticed it before but things happen. Can’t say it’s their fault but it is what it is.”

Ashdod’s Spencer Weisz told The Sports Rabbi, “You want a level of integrity to the game and we appreciate everyone coming today, but unfortunately the circumstances are what they are and you want to play on a regulation hoop and court and we didn’t have that tonight.”
