The Israel Under-18 team fell to Serbia 83-65 in the quarterfinals of the European Championships being held in Nis. Head coach Sharon Avrahami’s squad was unable to keep up with the hosts for the 40 minutes and will now take part in classification games as they tip-off against Greece on Saturday.
Israel with Alon Michaeli, Ori Cohen and and Omer Mayer scoring got off to a slow start against the hosts as the Serbian trio of Mitar Bosjjakovic, Nikola Topic and Pavle Misic took the game right to the young blue-and-white to grab a 43-29 lead at halftime. Shachar Doron tried to singlehandedly bring Israel back into the game over the course of the third quarter, however, Bogoljub Markovic along with Topic and Misic proved to be unstoppable as Serbia took the 18-point win.
