Israel downs Latvia 3-1 in Euro Qualifying

Israel easily disposed of Latvia 3-1 in UEFA 2020 European Championship Qualifying as Monas Dabbur picked up a first half brace while Eran Zahavi added his 11th goal of the campaign. The win gives Israel another 3 points but the Blue & White will most probably need the Nations League Playoffs to have a chance to advance to the Euros this coming summer.

Israel went on the attack early as Sevilla striker Monas Dabbur broke the ice in the 16th minute when he put home a Taleb Tawhatha cross for a 1-0 lead. The blue-and-white doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Eran Zahavi scored his campaign leading 11th goal by putting home a Dabbur rebound. But Latvia scored a shock goal in the 40th minute when Israel’s defense was turned inside out by Vladimirs Kamess to pull to with one goal, 2-1. However, the advantage was short lived when Dabbur scored his second goal of the game chipping the ball over a helpless Pavels Steinbors for a 3-1 lead at the break which held up after 90 minutes of play.
