Anniversaries are fun. They are a day to look back at the prior year or years seeing what has transpired between one date and another.
I want to thank G-d that Sharona, the Sports Rebbetizin/Rabbanit/Madricha Ruchanit, whatever you want to call it and I will celebrate 15 years married together this Shabbat. When I first saw Sharona many years ago, she was wearing a Ramaz Cheerleaders Jacket, so for sure I thought she loved sports. It was only later that I found out she liked the jacket and joined the team to get one!
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, mother of my children, soulmate, friend, buddy, pal, partner, and someone who has put up with many, many years of sports fandom from her husband.
Again, Sharona is not a sports fan and would like to do pretty much anything else than go to a game or for sure watch one on TV. But Sharona has put up with this hobby of mine for many years now which have included having season tickets at one point or another for the following teams:
New York Yankees, Jets, Rangers, Knicks, Mets, Liberty, City Hawks, Metrostars, NJ Rockin Rollers, St. John’s Red Storm, Montreal Alouettes, Beitar Jerusalem, Hapoel Jerusalem, Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In addition to that I have been to College Football games (Sharona even came to a few of those Kick Off classics at the Meadowlands), Tennis, both Canadian and US Open (Sharona & I saw the Women’s final back in 1999), Boxing, Minor League Baseball from Glens Falls to New Haven, Minor League Hockey, I’ve been to venues including Wrigley Field, Dolphin Stadium, Veteran’s Stadium, Saddledome in Calgary, Montreal Forum, Bell Centre, Nassau Colloseum, Miami Arena (I saw the Heat’s 3rd franchise victory over the Spurs before the arrival of David Robinson), Camden Yards, Fenway Park, Jarry Park, East Field, Yankee Stadium, Giants Stadium, Continental Airlines Arena, Fleet Center, Soldier Field, Nokia Arena, Haifa’s BB Arena, Bloomfield Stadium, Ramat Gan Stadium, Columbus Crew Stadium, Arrowhead Stadium, the Barbados National Grounds, RFK Stadium, MCI Center, Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Beer Sheva’s Stadium Wassermill, Kiryat Eliezer in Haifa, Olympic Stadium, Mercer County Waterfront Park in Trenton, Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, Yale Bowl. I probably missed a few along the way, but you get the picture.
I have been to over 1500 live sporting events and I have never heard from my Eishet Chayil, not once, “no you can’t go to the game tonight.” Never a complaint, not once, none, not ever.
Sharona and I have known each other for almost 20 years and not only do we have our separate interests that we both respect but we work together on many projects as well.
From Torat Reva Yerushalayim where Sharona and her staff give shiurim to those who can’t get out to a Torah Class. Those in Senior Homes, Senior Residences, Nursing homes, Hospitals and Mommy & Me Classes in the Southern area of Jerusalem would not happen without my holy wife. www.toratreva.org
Not only that, but together we opened a Post High School Midrasha for young women last year called Midreshet Devora, wwwmidreshetdevora.org and we are opening the Torat Reva Fellowship for Post College Students this year.
Together as we have done for many years continue to build together, work together and raise our beautiful family together. We along with our 3 sons, Dov, Moshe & Yehuda, could not have any better children, they are the best and it is because of my amazing wife who is so dedicated to them, day and night.
So, Mazel Tov to us as we celebrate #15, may we have many, many more together!
Shabbat Shalom and See you on Tuesday!
