Wolters & Bryant Arrive, Jerusalem Numbers, Beer Sheva Welcome & More! Israel Sports Rabbi Rundown August 21, 2019

Maccabi Tel Aviv BC

Nate Wolters arrived in Israel today and will join his new Maccabi Tel Aviv teammates. Here’s what the guard had to say,

“I think it can be really fun, but there are a lot of new guys and I think the next few weeks are going to be really important for us to play and practice together. We can get used to each other and to know each other as we have a good group of guys with a lot of talent, so it will be a lot of fun.”

Role on the team:
“We have a lot of guys that can play multiple positions. Whatever the coach asks me to do I’ll do. I’ll practice hard and be a good teammate and go from there.”

Starting or backup point guard:
“That’s for the coach to decide, so I’m just coming in here to word hard.”

Playing with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee:
“We were drafted the same year and to see him win the MVP is pretty incredible. When he was young I knew he had a lot of talent but to see it at the full potential is pretty cool.”

Thoughts about the season ahead:
“We just got to take it day by day and it starts by having a good training camp as we have a lot of new guys. We’ll have to jell together and play hard every single game. It’s early to talk about the playoffs.”

Elijah Bryant also landed in Israel and spoke about the upcoming campaign:
“We have some great guys, a great coach and a great staff. I’m super grateful for the opportunity and I’m ready to get to work.”

What he brings to the team:
“You’re going to see a guy that will do everything for the team to win. Whatever that takes whether it’s scoring, defense, rebounding, assists whatever possible to win the game because that’s all that matter at the end of the day.”

Excited to get going:
“It’s super exciting and there is a lot of talent. It very young but we also have a lot of talent. I’m super excited to meet the guys and get to work.”
