Breaking news from this past week, former NBA player Nate Robinson has signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv. In his NBA career, Nate averaged 11 points per game while dishing out 3 assists per game. He has been a journeyman in the NBA playing for 8 different teams. In his prime he was averaging 17 points per game with the New York Knicks. At 5”9 he is the only 3 time NBA dunk contest champion. At 31 years of age he looked a step slower this year when he was playing for the New Orleans Pelicans.
When Nate arrived in Israel he received a very warm welcome from Hapoel Tel Aviv fans in the airport. As reported earlier this month, Nate told the media he still plans on pursuing a career in the NFL and that this is just a pit stop before he works on his football skills at the end of the season.
This is a very smart rental for a 9-14 Hapoel Tel Aviv. It is sure to increase their ticket sales and will certainly increase the talent level on the team. After a crushing defeat last week against Herzliya, Hapoel Tel Aviv looks to bounce back in the hyped debut of Nate Robinson tonight vs. Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion.
