Israel defeated Liechtenstein 2:1 on Matchday Three of World Cup Qualifying thanks to a brace by Tomer Hemed who headed home his two goals in the first half.

Head Coach Elisha Levy decided to go with mostly the same lineup that helped his team win in Macedonia but inserted Omri Ben Harush for Ofir Davidzada, Maor Bozaglo in favor of Nir Bitton and of course the red carded Eitan Tibi was replaced by Rami Gershon.

All in all the Blue & White had a tough time against a game Liechtenstein but pulled out the one-goal victory after Tomer Hemed, Brighton’s star striker headed in two goals past the visiting keeper. His first goal was off of a Maor Bozaglo corner in the 4th minute while his second marker was via Maccabi Tel Aviv winger Tal Ben Chaim giving his side a two goal lead. But a poor start to the second half by Israel gave Max Goppel the chance to pull his team to within one goal in the 49th minute.

However, they couldn’t find any other way past the stingy goalkeeping of Dudu Goresh who made a couple of alert saves. Add to that a late game tackle by Rami Gershon in the box and an additional threat was thwarted.

At the end of the day, Israel took six out of six points in their last two matches and will look to continue their winning ways when they visit Albania in November.
