Israel completed a big time comeback to defeat Scotland 2:1 at Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa to win their first game in Nations League play and under new head coach Andi Herzog. The Blue & White were able to turnaround a 1:0 deficit thanks to a Charlie Mulgrew penalty (25’) via Dor Petetz’s (52’) second half strike and an own goal by Kieran Tierney (74’).
Israel showed a lot of character to come back and take the victory when midfielder Peretz put the ball into the back of the goal after some nifty teamwork. The second goal came not long after when a Beram Kayal Kayal attempt deflected off Scotland defender Tierney to hand Israel the 3 points.
Israel faced Albania on Sunday in Beer Sheva where they will look to build on the momentum gained up north.
