Norris Cole the 2x NBA Champion with the Miami Heat could be heading back to Maccabi Tel Aviv for his second spell with the team according to a source. The 30-year old free agent point guard helped lead the Yellow & Blue to the Winner League title and Israel State Cup in 2017/18 under Coach Neven Spahija.

Cole began last season with FIBA Champions League side Avellino where he was named the MVP on Gameday 1 and 3. He then joined Buducnost in December where he played in 15 Euroleague games while starting in 12 as he averaged 16.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 26.6 minutes per game.

In 28 EuroLeague games played for Maccabi during the 2017–18 season, Cole averaged 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game. In Israeli league action the Cleveland State product scored 11.2 points, 2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Selected 28th overall in the 1st Round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, Cole’s draft rights were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and subsequently to the Miami Heat. The Ohio native also played for the New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder and spent a couple of months in China with the Shandong Golden Stars. In 360 NBA games, Cole averaged 7 points, 2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 22.3 minutes per game.

Cole would be a welcome addition to the team and would be able to provide scoring and stability at the point guard position especially with the starting unit. He would easily fit into the squad after having played with a number of the players from two years ago including John DiBartolomeo, Jake Cohen and Yovel Zoosman. In addition, Cole could be yet another mentor for Deni Avdija as he looks ahead to the 2020 NBA Draft.
