Not only is Grant Greenberg the all-time men’s collegiate leading scorer in the state of Kansas with 3,330 total career points but he’s also a “Mentsch”. You would never know in a million years that the unassuming University of Saint Mary’s guard has broken record after record and picked up award after award during his collegiate career. A fundamentally strong player with a team first mentality, Greenberg has proven not only that he is capable of scoring in multiple ways but also possesses the ability to handle the ball under pressure and lead a team on defense.
The Maccabiah USA Gold medalist spoke about his new found connection to Israel and Judaism, “After visiting Israel for the first time, I knew that this was the place where I would love to play. Once I was able to experience the Holy Land, I found out how much Israelis love their basketball. The leagues are very competitive and I would be happy to help a team compete for a championship.”
Greenberg may not have been brought up with a strong Jewish background so his first visit to Israel was definitely an unforgettable experience, “The Maccabiah Games was an eye opening experience for me. I was able to see what Judaism was all about and take part in the culture. I was able to learn more about my family’s background and the history of where I came from. I will cherish the memories of the Maccabiah forever.”
With the desire to succeed in Israel, Greenberg spoke about what separates him from the rest, “I have shown myself to be a prolific scorer who can play in all types of systems and I’m also an extreme competitor who wants to win. My relentless work ethic, passion for competing and life long desire to play professional basketball are qualities that make me an asset to any organization.”
