Avdija stars as Israel U20’s defeat Greece, Ben Basat signs with Beer Sheva & More!

1) The Israel Under-20 team defeated Greece 106-84 in their final group game to finish in second place which sets up a Round of 16 clash against Sweden on Wednesday. The Blue & White dominated the Greeks from the get go exacting a bit of revenge for last year’s U20 final in which Hellas beat Israel for the Euro championship. Deni Avdija led Ariel Beit Halachmi’s squad with 20 points while Gil Beni, Yovel Zoosman and Miron Ben Ruina all added 19 points in the victory.

2) Veteran Israeli striker Eden Ben Basat signed with Hapoel Beer Sheva after moving from Hapoel Haifa. Beer Sheva Head Coach Barak Bachar is thrilled to have Ben Basat join the team, “We are always looking to add the best players especially Israelis. Ben Basat is a player that everyone is familiar with. He’s playing well and his best is still ahead. He will be an integral part of the team and we are happy to have him.”

3) Maccabi Tel Aviv BC will play three preseason tournaments in Cyprus, Croatia and Greece to prepare for the 2018/19 season.

Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament
When: 27-28.9.2018
Where: O.A.K.A, Athens (Greece).
Featuring: Panathinaikos, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, Fenerbahce, and Khimki Moscow Region.

4) Hapoel Jerusalem will play in the Olympiacos preseason tournament in Athens, Greece between 21-23.9.2018 with the host’s as well as Kazan and Torino. The highlight of the competition may in fact be seeing Jerusalem guard Tamir Blatt play against his father’s Olympiacos side.

5) NBA Summer League:
Jonah Bolden of Maccabi Tel Aviv scored 5 points and grabbed 4 boards in 24 minutes for the 76ers.
